What do you do at New City?
I am the Teen Employment Director- I supervise all the teenagers who work here.
What’s so special about New City?
It is holistic, evolving and reaches kids with the gospel who wouldn’t hear it otherwise.
Favorite Books
The Bible excluded….I have read about a million social work books in the past two years so it is hard to think of anything else. I really liked “Begging for a Change” by Robert Egger, “Lost Boys” by James Garberino and “Breaking Through to Teens” by Robert Taffel.
Favorite Foods
Pizza House pizza (in East Lansing MI)
What do you do in your free time?
Hang out with my beautiful wife Andrea and baby girl, Aylah Grace.
I hope to someday:
Be able to live with in the moment without having to remind myself to do it.
Things I’m thankful for:
God’s love for me (and patience), my wife and daughter, my family back home, opportunity to serve the Lord, laughter, old friends, kids like David Ray and GP who I know will make it.
My most embarrassing moment was:
I have embarrassing moments all the time. Most of them lately have involved driving in Jersey City. There is this one intersection where I always get confused and stop on the green light (I swear it looks red but I guess that is not for my lane) the drivers in New Jersey honk and yell things at you when you do stuff like that. I’ve done it about ½ a dozen times. Andrea laughs every time.
When I grow up, I want to be:
I’m not convinced that I’ll know I’m grown up when I get there but I’m pretty convinced I still won’t be sure what I want to do.
Life’s greatest lesson I’ve learned is:
He’s in control and I should stop trying to be
Fun fears:

Heights! (but I love to scare myself on roller coasters)

Most amazing fact about me:
I paid my way through college without taking out a loan (undergrad at least, I have loans to prove I went to grad school :P)
I’ll never try:
To do a flip --- I’m not that coordinated.
What is your desire for New City?
That youth would encounter Christ here and that He would transform them to bring about His purpose in their life. I also have this idea about a youth center but time will tell….
If you could describe yourself in three words, what would they be?
Compassionate, intuitive, a bit unpredictable.
What’s your favorite scripture?
Today: Psalm 23, the 2nd part “You have prepared a table before me, in the presence of my enemies, you anoint my head with oil and my cup overflows, with love, peace and joy.”
What are three things in your refrigerator?
Humus, leftover chicken, chocolate syrup
What keeps you working?
On days I don’t feel like working Jesus tells me I have to – it is better just to listen.
What is life really all about for you?
Following after this savior who changed my life.
What’s in your CD player?
Kenny Chesney. Jersey City doesn’t have any country radio—it’s a shame, no wonder everyone is irritable here
