What do you do at New City?
I am the After School Center Director
What’s so special about New City?
New City is a vibrant place, full of life, energy and passion.
Favorite Books
-"Reaching Out" by Henri Nouwen. "Their Eyes Were Watching God" by Zora Neale Hurston. "Breathing Space" by Heidi Neumark.
Favorite Foods
Yogurt and granola, cashew chicken stir-fry, bread, muffins, cheese.
What do you do in your free time?
Coffee, meals, music, books, movies, sleep...
I hope to someday:
Open a coffeehouse with local music and art, great coffee, and people interacting who wouldn't necessarily otherwise sit down together. Another crazy dream is to be able to do equine-assisted therapy with children and teenagers.
Things I’m thankful for:
Faith, family, friends, music, sunshine, laughter...
My most embarrassing moment was:
Being told after a worship service by a musical genius that my guitar was out of tune the entire service...
When I grow up, I want to be:
An author, a horse-trainer, a song-writer, and a barista.
Life’s greatest lesson I’ve learned is:
Celebrate beautiful moments, especially when you find them in unexpected places.
Fun fears:
Haunted corn mazes and spiders and other crawling creatures...
Most amazing fact about me:
I manage to come in every morning with my coffee, regardless of if the 87 was on time or not, or if it was raining, snowing, hailing, tornado-ing or otherwise...
I’ll never try:
To say never...
What is your desire for New City?
To be a place where children and young people meet and grow in relationship with Jesus Christ--it's exciting to see this happening. I hope that this is a place where children and young people feel safe, loved, and encouraged...
If you could describe yourself in three words, what would they be?
Compassionate, adventurous, clumsy.
What’s your favorite scripture?
Luke 9:11, from the story of feeding the five thousand: "Jesus welcomed them and spoke to them about the kingdom of God, and healed those who needed healing."
What are three things in your refrigerator?
Cheese, dark chocolate from Trader Joe's, oranges.
What keeps you working?
People around me.
What is life really all about for you?
Relationships, love, peace, justice, beauty, hope...
What’s in your CD player?

Rosie Thomas "If Songs Could Be Held."
